When both eyes focus on a near object, three reactions occur simultaneously in response to the stimulus. These are collectively known as the eye''s "Near Triad":

Convergence
Both eyes move inward to keep the object aligned with the foveal center of each retina.

Lens accommodation
The curvature of the crystalline lens is adjusted to maintain a clear retinal image.

Pupillary constriction
The pupils contract to extend depth of field and improve visual acuity.

These three structural changes work together to maintain clear binocular vision and optimize near vision.
